Cholestech's LDX Analyzer uses a single drop of blood on a disposable test cassette and takes just five minutes to generate a lab-accurate, comprehensive measurement of a patient's cholesterol levels. The speed and ease of the LDX enables doctors to counsel patients at the time of the test - a tremendous therapeutic advantage over traditional lab testing and a more convenient option for patients.
The LDX Analyzer can measure a patient's lipid profile (total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglycerides, blood glucose) and ALT/AST - a test that assesses liver function in patients on certain drug therapies, such as statins. These simple tests can be used to determine a patient's risk for heart disease or to regularly monitor patients already undergoing treatment for these conditions.
The LDX Analyzer consists of a small analyzer that uses disposable test cassettes. The LDX is "CLIA waived" under the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988 and CRMLN certified. The system is simple to use, requires little training and is as reliably accurate as those tests offered in a lab. In most cases, Medicare and third-party health insurance reimburse the costs of the LDX System tests.
